MAGGIE - (R.I.P.)

During one of my Holidays, my father made me come to his office in Bishops Stotford to spend the day with him which was always fun as I got to play with all the construction equipment that he had in the yard which was being repaired so that they could sell them!  They had a mechanic called Barry who would start up the Bulldozers or cranes and teach me how to operate them which was always fun. The other half of the day was spent in the office getting coffee and other things for everyone who was in the offices..  My first encounter with Maggie was when she ordered me to take a coffee to my father, The week before going to the office with my father, one our close family friends had given me a Gold Digital Watch which was the latest trend, I remember my father telling me not to wear it to the office in case I lost it !! and as always I never listened to my father and while jumping on the equipment the strap broke without me knowing, one of the staff found it and gave it to M...

HOLIDAYS - PART 2

I always looked forward to my summer break from school, as it was always the longest break we got and that meant I had more fun to chill, relax and if the weather was amazing have plenty of fun.  Growing up in a small town you got to know all the teenagers around our town and we would always meet at someone’s place, and plan the weekend madness, I was lucky as Steve and Dave knew virtually every single hot girl in our area and they would always make sure that they were invited out with us or they would join us after at my place for a late night swim or to dance the night away in our private nightclub ! One of the weekends, with permission from my parents I arranged a Barbecue from Saturday 4pm till whenever the last person decided to leave, we all chipped in and arranged for the food, booze & DJ. My parents would always lock the house so no one could enter, but we had access to the pool, barbecue, showers, sauna and toilets so we were set for a wild weekend of partying. T...

HOLIDAYS

One of my Father’s  oldest friends you could basically say he was his brother, he and his brothers were into the Movie Business.! When I first met Ajit Sippy was at the preview of a movie called SHOLAY. It turns out that the Sippy Brothers were owing a lot of money to some people in India and if the money was not paid they would not release the film to them, as always my father would do anything for his best friend and my father ended up financing the movie for them, paying of the people and then carrying the movie reels to london for the preview, the movie went on to be one of the biggest movies ever made in Bollywood and actually it passed even some of the biggest box office movies in Hollywood !. the best part about all of this they never paid back what my father had paid to get the film released.  Every weekend when i was not at school, we would end up going over to there house in Hampstead for along and extremely boring lunch, which meant all the adults would drink ...

TEENAGE YEARS - PART 2

We moved in to our new place one day after our neighbours at Number  33 moved in, so our place was Number 31. Our neighbours had three kids (2Boys & 1 Girl) and we were (2Girls & 1Boy) Over the first months we lived in either there house or they lived in our place, one of the nicest, down to earth families you could ever wish to meet, over the years I became part of there family and they became part of my family.  Over the years our bond grew and grew even though I was still at Boarding School, I used to look forward to the weekends that I was allowed to travel home to meet my family, but more to meet my neighbours.! - more about this a bit later on  Our Boarding School was based in Somerset, home to Cider and Scrumpy Jack. From our boarding house to school, you used to pass two farms, every Friday Night we would walk down to the local farmer and buy a bottle of home brewed scrumpy jack which cost us for a bottle 15Pence after a couple of sips of this you wo...

TEENAGE YEARS

After leaving Keble Prep School and being shipped  to Boarding School, I realised that I was a very slow learner if  it was to do with studies or in general with my life. Going to Boarding School can either break you or make you into something special. At Edgarley, my boarding house was approx 30Minutes away from school our boarding house was called Manor Farm. We were the only Boarding house that also had girls also, but they were in a seperate section of the house the only time we would see them was in the morning for breakfast, when we would catch the bus to school, at school, bus ride back to the boarding house and then during our 90minutes of free time before we had to go to our dorms and prepare for bed. My dorm was on the first floor which consisted of 12 beds on the left close to the window and 12 beds on the right next to the wall, the way you got initiated into the house was that you would have to run in between the beds and everyone would smack you with there ...

First 8 Years

Born in London, at St John’s Wood Hospital, (1965), lived in a rented apartment in St John’s Wood our neighbour who was from Russia, I remember my mother telling me that she taught her how to make a amazing Russian Salad not that my mum ever decided to make it for me, still dreaming about it.  By the age of 2, we moved to Barnet into a 3 bed house, once a week between 1pm to 3pm we had to hide and were not allowed to make any noice as some government agencies used to show up.!  My Mum and Dad left India with barely anything and my father started to  buy and sell used engines all over the world, slowly as business picked up my fathers brother and his wife joined us in the uk along with their daughter. So we had four adults and 4 kids living in a 3 bed, (typical Indian family ) it was fun to share a room with 3 girls and also to be bullied by all 3 of them. I am the middle child (reject child) as the middle one always get blamed for everything.. My mother and Aunt, when it ...
